Anonymous asked: Hey you guys run a great blog, but you really shouldn't buy into the kony propaganda. That's a really messed up, shallow campaign that gives all non profits a bad name. It's actually kind of offensive.
Thanks for your opinion :)
The reason why there’s Kony campaign content on this blog is because… well, after hearing about it a month ago, I haven’t seen anything on my dash/ anywhere, for that matter, about Kony.
So, as someone super curious about how advertising works, I went back to see how far the Kony campaign, having grown so big, so quickly (almost overnight, eh) turned out.
Can you elaborate on how it’s a messed up, shallow campaign though? And how it’s offensive?

collectionsofnonsense asked: Hey! Be sure to check out Invisible Children's responses to the critiques as well. The arguments are very valid, of course, but I think IC has some good comebacks/explanations.
Yup! I have, I just put them on queue, so sorry for the wait! :)

Anonymous asked: For my part, I think I came off a bit angrier than was meant. You're not the first or the last to do this. Thank you for editing the post!
Don’t worry about it. I’ve done that many times to other bloggers who seemingly were being provoking to causes I care about, and it turns out it was just a slip of mind, or a misunderstanding. :D
NP!
Anonymous asked: I love this blog, but please don't tell me that if I don't reblog something it means I'm a "cunt" or I don't care. I WAS abused as a child. That image might be triggering to some of my followers. That's why I'm not reblogging it. Not because I don't care. Thank you very much.
Oh my goodness that’s not my message and definitely not the message I wanted to convey. I am so sorry that I overlooked that comment when I reblogged things.
I understand your concerns, and do appreciate that you pointed this out. I have edited the post.
And again, I sincerely apologize for offending you, or anyone who saw the post.

OMG Anon, you are now my favourite person :D Let’s make this a chain. Every time you see someone do this to someone else on your dash, do it too :D
ideaswithoutcauses asked: your reblogging my leadership post just made my week XD thank you
Dude(ette?), your posting of this leadship post made MY week. Usually tumblr is like scroll scroll scroll reblog mindlessly scroll scroll scroll oh look that’s cool, I’ll reblog it scroll scroll scroll forget what I’ve reblogged two seconds ago oh look it’s a cute little kitty reblog scrollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, but that one post, made me sit there and think.
For those who have no idea what we’re talking about, c’est ceci:
The Difference Between a doer and a Leader(inspired by a Gentleman Jack ad in GQ)
A doer tries to make their mark. A leader strives to leave one.
A doer accepts a favor. A leader returns it.
A doer gives orders. A leader inspires others to follow an example.
A doer fits the mold. A leader breaks it.
A doer takes just as many steps as are needed, but a leader takes the extra.
Just because you’re given a leadership position doesn’t make you a leader.
It really got me thinking. The first one, really reminded me of this one friend; and that connection really made me reflect on his accomplishments. And believe me, they are daunting. We’re the same age, but he’s done so much more… ok I’ll end my blabber of admiration here. In summary? Leader. Role model.
And the one about a doer giving orders, and the leader inspiring others to follow an example? Absolutely true. Reminds me of another friend. He’s never gone out to tell me to do anything, but the way his charisma is able to point me into being passionate about the issues that he’s passionate about, stunning. leader.
And the last one? There’s nothing else that can be more applicable to my current one. I’m applying to uni this year, and so many of these applications require leadership. I do have leadership; the kind that you get from being given that “leadership” position at a club, or going to “leadership conferences”, etc. etc. Universities still accept those experiences, but have I really ever inspired anyone? I don’t think I ever have. It’s the same with so many other people I know. So many of us are presidents of so many clubs, yet you can clearly see their flaws (ok bordering arrogant here), and the forced way that kind of have to assert their authority to make sure things run. That’s me. Then you compare us to those people who actually may not have many president of ladeladela positions to write on their university applications, but through how they’ve inspired others in the community, are the true leaders… It’s kind of unfair.
See? Which is why I was saying how that post made my entire week. It’s been on my mind ever since. It’s like one of those things you read, and you’re like, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, I’m going to reach for that goal. I want to be inspiring. I want to kick it up a notch.
And because motivation like this rarely ever reaches my dash, you have no idea how grateful I was for this.
[/end rant-like essay]
So. In summary, thank you for writing that post :D
collectionsofnonsense asked: Hello! I was wondering if you could spread an idea of mine, maybe make it pretty in a box or something? :] It is- This 11/11/11, you have two wishes, 11:11 am and 11:11 pm. Give one of those to the world. And don't just wish- help make it happen. Help MAKE that wish come true. Donate even $5 dollars to your favorite charity. Want to do something for veterans? Want to do something for the environment? Basically, don't just wish- help make it happen. .. Thanks! L:
It’s on queue now :D But unsure if it will actually come out 11/11/11, shall check right now. :D
